About Karen
In this photograph, I’m still very little. A quiet child, often alone. I knew nothing of my story.
I was adopted as a baby, but I only found out when I was twenty. Before then, I couldn’t explain why I felt different.
I only knew that something, for me, didn’t feel quite in place.
Perhaps your story is nothing like mine. But perhaps you, too, know that feeling of adapting without always feeling fully yourself.
I’d long known how to care for others. I had to learn to listen to myself too.
For much of my life, I was the one who adapted, found a solution and kept going. I knew how to listen to others and respond to their needs. My own could wait. For a long time, that seemed normal to me. Then I went through a period of deep exhaustion. I could no longer simply carry on as before. I began asking myself a question I’d often put off:
“What about me in all of this?”
It wasn’t a question I could answer in a day. I needed time to understand what I was carrying, what I’d learned to accept and what I wanted to choose for the next part of my life.
That journey led me to the work I do today
My experience made me want to understand why change can sometimes be so difficult, even when we know perfectly well what no longer feels right for us. Why do we still say yes when we want to say no? Why can we understand a situation in our minds and still feel it in our bodies? Those questions led me to train in coaching, NLP, hypnosis and guided breathing practices. Each approach gave me a different way to listen and offer support.
But when we work together, I don’t begin by choosing a technique. I begin by listening to you. What you’re experiencing today. What you’d like to understand. What you may be feeling without yet having the words to express it.
There’s room for you at every step
I know how difficult it can be to give yourself attention when you’ve spent years being there for others. With me, you don’t need to have already understood what’s happening to you or know exactly what you want to change. We can begin with a conversation. Then we move at your pace, exploring what helps you feel more at ease in your body and freer to make your own choices.
I’m not here to decide what you should leave behind. It’s your story, and the choice remains yours.
I, too, am still learning to recognise my limits and listen to what matters to me. It’s from this place, drawing on my personal experience and training, that I support you today.
Let’s get to know each other
If something in my story echoes your own, we can begin simply by talking. The complimentary discovery call lasts 45 minutes: you can tell me what brings you here, ask me your questions and see whether you feel comfortable with the way I work.
